Goal of the Foundation:

Increase knowledge about foot-, gait- and motion disorders and the treatment with orthoses and pedorthic footwear in Asia/Indonesia

All about the Foundation BERJALAN

Six years ago Klaas Postema started to work on a textbook about pedorthic footwear. When the outline of the book was ready he invited Karl-Heinz Schott, Dennis Janisse and Clemens Rommers to join him as editors. They were asked because of their outstanding experience and knowledge in this field. Finally in total 54 authors made contributions. Related to this big number there is chosen not to pay out royalties. The idea was born to establish a foundation. The goal of this foundation originates from another passion of Klaas Postema, education of doctors, students, orthotists, prosthetists, etc in Asia. Since about 15 years he teaches almost every year in Surabaya, Indonesia and in different other Asian countries. The goal of the Foundation is to increase knowledge about foot-, gait- and motion disorders and the treatment with orthoses and pedorthic footwear in Asia/Indonesia. This wil be reached by funding education projects in Asia/Indonesia by anyone who organises this in cooperation with the local professionals.

After covering all costs, the sale of the book will fund the Foundation.

In April 2018, the Foundation BERJALAN (means: to walk) was established and the textbook: “Pedorthic footwear; Assessment and treatment” was published.
